Amadou Niang
Regional Director for Operations, West Africa
Amadou Niang, an agroforester is from Senegal. He has been the Director of the Earth Institute's MDG Centre for West and Central Africa since February 2006. Before joining the Earth Institute, Dr. Niang was a Principal Scientist at ICRAF from 1989 to 1999 and the regional coordinator of ICRAF Sahel (January 2000 to January 2006). Amadou Niang worked with the Agricultural Research and Development in the Semi-arid Zones of Africa (SAFGRAD) of the Scientific and Technical Research Commission of the African Union for 3 years. Before joining SAFGRAD, Amadou was the Director of the National Forestry Research Centre in Senegal. Amadou has worked in different countries in West, Central, East and Southern African in Agriculture Research and Development.
