Bocary Kaya

Team Leader and Science Coordinator, Tiby, Mali

Bocary Kaya is the Team Leader and Science Coordinator of the Tiby, Mali Millennium Villages cluster. Prior to this, Mr. Kaya was the Regional Land Project Coordinator for a joint UN Environment Program (UNEP)/International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) land degradation project covering Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. He also served as a National Institut d'Economie Rurale du Mali (IER)/ICRAF coordinator, in charge of all the ICRAF Sahel agroforestry based soil fertility related research activities. Additionally, Mr. Kaya led the Soil Conservation and Natural Resource Management Program for the Division for Research into Rural Production Systems based in Sikasso, Mali.

Mr. Kaya has a PhD in Agroforestry with a minor in Farming Systems from the University of Florida in Gainesville, USA; a MSc in Soil Conservation from the Cranfield Institute of Technology in Silsoe, England; and a BSc in Agronomy from the Institut Polytechnique Rural in Katibougou, Mali.
