John Okorio

Regional Operations Manager, East & Southern Africa

John Okorio is the Regional Operations Manager for East & Southern Africa. His professional background is in forestry and agroforestry, and he has vast experience in research for development in agriculture and forestry, covering areas such as sustainable development, natural resource management and livelihoods. Dr. Okorio also has experience in managing projects comprising multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams of specialists. In addition, he has carried out consultancies with FAO, RELMA-SIDA and Africare International relating to food security, natural resource management and agroforestry. He holds a PhD, MSc. and B.Sc. (Hons) in Forestry.

As Team Leader and Cluster Manager, Dr. Okorio oversees the technical and financial implementation of the Ruhiira Millennium Villages project. These include managing the office operations, the budget, human resources, implementation of the sector interventions, procurement and logistics for the Cluster. He also initiates and maintains close working relationships with local, district and national government officials and project stakeholders. In doing all these activities, he works closely with the Science Coordinator, the National MDG Advisor and the UNDP Uganda Country Office staff.
