Niyi Onabanjo

Team Leader, Ikaram, Nigeria

Niyi Onabanjo is the Operations Manager and Team Leader for Ikaram Millennium Villages Project (MVP) in Ondo State, Nigeria. He assumed the position of Team Leader in March 2009. In this position, Niyi coordinates both technical and operational management of Ikaram MVP. These include effective and efficient operations of all project initiatives with respect to project planning and implementation, human resources, procurement and financial management, while maintaining strong and supportive working relationship with Local, State and National stakeholders. In accomplishing these activities, he works closely with the Regional Director and Team at the MDG Centre, West Africa and UNDP Country Office Management & Staff.

His working career started in 1997 in the Finance and Budget Division (Special Projects Unit) of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). Before joining MVP in 2007, he had worked with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Lagos and as the Head of Administration and Marketing for Decrown (West Africa) Company Limited, a civil engineering consulting firm responsible for the design and supervision of the N80bn Gurara Water Transfer Project in Abuja. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of Ibadan, a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Senior Financial Analyst Certificate from Lagos Business School (LBS) and IDPM certification in computing. He is also an Associate of Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered). Niyi has penchant for new challenges.
