Millennium Promise Japan (MPJ) supports the Millennium Villages Project in Africa by working to reduce poverty, protect people from malaria, and to generally improve the standard of life and education in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

MPJ works to provide social education for Japanese to raise awareness of these global problems, and of the importance of eliminating poverty in and aiding Africa. We also hope to foster global leadership skills in young people and lead them to promote world peace via these activities.

Activities:

To accomplish our mission, MPJ aims to carry out following activities:

• Achievement of MDGs, by supporting village people in the Millennium Villages to stand on their own feet.
• Supporting Japanese senior citizens and young people by sending them to the Millennium Villages as volunteers to obtain a global view.
• Inviting young Africans to Japan to promote mutual understanding between African and Japanese people at a community level.
• Helping student-volunteer-staff of MPJ carry out various activities such as holding conference with African students.
• Running seminars and symposiums about Africa, the Millennium Villages and so on.
• In Japan, promoting the sale of the products from the Millennium Villages to assist the residents with self-help.
• Promote of technology investment by Japanese companies to Africa and Millennium Villages, which enhances companies CSR activities
